Next summer I am shooting a documentary film project that focuses on exploring the local Southampton music scene through the lens of fashion and visual identity. Although the research is countrywide looking at behaviour so please don’t let the word ‘Southampton’ put you off filling it in.
As part of this research, I am hoping to gather insights from venues that play an important role in supporting the local music community and I would greatly appreciate your perspective on how music culture and fashion intersect within live performance spaces.
I have created a short questionnaire that aims to understand how artists, audiences, and venues express identity and community through clothing, style, and visual presentation at gigs and events. The responses will help inform the development of the documentary and ensure that it accurately represents the character of the local music scene.

As a live music fan who year on year sees 70 -100+ bands a year, the majority of which are at local venues this is as much a passion project for me that I am happy to discuss further, and would also be looking for permission to mention or feature venues as part of the final cut.
