Paradise Records, The Comedy we have all been waiting for!

Paradise records, The comedy the world has been waiting for

It’s based in a record store, what more can I ask for?

I have never worked in a record store but I have spent way to much time having ridiculous conversations in them, yes, a lot with friends in ‘the old days’ when multiple megastores existed mainly HMV or Virgin, even the smaller Our Price and I’ll add Woolworths to the list. Is it better now record stores are more of an independent niche market, definitely for the like of me.

Now, record stores depicted in movies try to grab the essence of this experience, Empire Records did for me grab the chaotic element that more than likely existed in our imaginations and the record store parts of High Fidelity, we’ll just film two hours of that and I will grab some popcorn and sit back.

This morning the trailer for Paradise Records appeared via my Instagram, hailed as ‘The comedy we have all been waiting for’.

“A record store owner and his eccentric staff fight to save their beloved shop from closing down.”

Written by Logic, an American rapper, singer and songwriter based out of Los Angeles and that is quite a cast he has put together, to be fair a sighting of Jay and Silent Bob and I was sold. Add Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ron Perlman and many more and thank you. The robbery kidnap scene took my head straight to films like Airheads or even SFW which are films I love and character driven films like Clerks set in simple environments are always great.

I know nothing more about this film than the trailer lets on, for that cast to sign up it must be worth the laughs, it looks like a great character parody based on a wealth of experience in situations, conversation and time well spent in these spaces, yes it may be expanded and over the top in places but to the non record store aficionado these conversations could be inaccessible and maybe dare I say a bit geeky, they need to be funny.

The IMDb page says ‘completed’ and the oracle that is Google says “The movie “Paradise Records” is set to be released on June 6, 2025, at the Tribeca Film Festival. Logic, who wrote and directed the film, announced the premiere date on his Instagram page”.

Thats not long to wait, well, when it will reach the UK shores so I can watch is yet unknown to me, but I’m waiting. Looking forward tot he Soundtrack, right i’m off to buy records!!
