The Pill
We walked into the main stage area just as The Pill started and what a treat, musically great, serious and funny. If you want to see a band living what they do then this is it. Social commentary not even hidden between driving guitars and a great drummer. Made all the men remove their hats and turn around then sang a song mocking mullets. Mentioned a tour soon I’ll be sure to be at.

Rizzle Kicks
Simply brilliant! They may have been away a while and have grown up a bit but are just as good if not better. The crowd was bouncing and it was still very early in the day, but the sunshine fitted perfectly with the vibe of the set. This was one not to miss and we didn’t. A few new tracks between art the classics.

Mackenzie
I believe she won the competition to sing at the festival and definitely made the most of it. I don’t want to cliche her performance but ‘small girl, big voice’. She sounded great, good songs and the biggest smile she made the most of her time on stage. Extra kudos for coming down to her fans afterwards and handing out bracelets.

Kid Kapichi
This was always going to be a highlight. I’ve seen this band before and the deadpan energy just works. Social commentary, cutting and musically great. Pure attitude. Got a great mosh pit circling at one point. A different lineup since last time with a new drummer and guitarist but just as good.

Circa Waves
Have to admit I did not know this band before this but certainly do now. Great music, great banter a great highlight of the day, could have listened for longer.

Public Service Broadcasting
I don’t need to say how good these guys are. Quality as always and this time seeing them they had an added sax and trumpet player on stage and a spaceman. Great songs and a great performance. An interesting choice to put in before the next act but may have picked up a new generation of fans.

Caity Baiser
I didn’t know who she was but those I was with wanted to see her so I obliged. She was great, cheeky, funny, a great voice and band backing her up. She put in a great show and I’d happily see her again.

Nelly Furtado
Wasn’t sure what to expect as only really new/remembered a couple of tracks from the past. It’s amazing how much you do forget but enjoyed the reintroduction. A great stage show with a great band behind her and the backing dancers added to the performance. Memorable.
