I had not seen Don Broco until this summer, I was aware of the name but they were not in my vinyl collection or even in my algorithm at that time. Then thanks to a support slot a for Biffy Clyro they became part of both when they stole part of that day and became…
What is indie music? It sounds like a simple question, yet it is one of the most misunderstood terms in modern music. Most of us know that “indie” is short for “independent.” If you want to be strict about the definition, indie music refers to music produced outside the major commercial record label system. Last night, Paul Draper performed an instore in Southampton promoting his latest studio project ‘Mansun Retold’ where he has reimagined and rebuilt eleven classic tracks and deep cuts from the Mansun catalogue. This was a rescheduled set that was postponed from February this year. On the night he performed great acoustic versions of ‘The Chad…
Tonight a took the chance to go and see Villanelle and to get the elephant in the room out the way, yes it’s Gene Gallagher, son of Liam Gallagher’s band. Oasis did play The Joiners 31 years ago on the 29th of March 1994, but that’s where any talk of Oasis stops. Tonight was about Villanelle….

It was the last night of the tour for The Stanley’s at The Heartbreakers in Southampton and having seen them last November supporting Cast I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity, especially at such a small intimate venue. The printed poster by the door set 9.15 as a set time and two supports, they’re spoiling…
Acoustic Indie Rock in Cuban Heels The Kooks performed an outstore in support of their new album ‘Never/Know’ at the 1865 in Southampton last night for Vinilo Record Store. No frills no support just two guitars in front of a sold out crowd. For a band that formed in 2004 releasing the first album ‘Inside…
