Whipping Boy 45s

Great find this week, ‘Twinkle’ (1995) and ‘When We Were Young’ (1996) by Whipping Boy. Still looking for that copy of the album  ‘Heartworm’ by the band released in 1995 which these two singles were from.

I remember hearing Twinkle for the first time in about 1996, first on an Indie Compilation of latest singles I bought then I had it on cassette in the car on a regular play. I was a fan of their music from the first time I heard it.

If you’ve never heard of them before, Whipping Boy were an Irish alternative rock band, what would just be classed as ‘post-hardcore’ or just ‘indie’ now. They were around from the late 1980s until the late 1990s, releasing three full-length albums. The first, ‘Submarine’ in 1992, ‘Heartworm’ in 1995, but then they were dropped by there label leaving the third album unreleased. It eventually saw the light of day in 2000.

Coming under, Alternative rock, shoegazing, post-punk, noise rock, or post-hardcore, there is something for anyone who likes those genres or just good guitar music.
