Mike D 5D Pre-Order

Imagine my joy yesterday when the links appeared on may social channels and via mailing lists that the Mike D 5D album was available to pre-order, hot on the heels of seeing Mike D and his bands live show on Saturday in London.

The live tracks were awesome and most had been heard before but it took me as long as was needed to go through the ordering system to secure the ‘Exclusive’ Splatter Vinyl, yes i was a sucker for the word ‘Exclusive’. Any self-proclaimed Beastie Boys fans collection would not be complete without it. I’m not going overboard and buying every variant and I try to not get sucked into the vinyl colour discussions too much but this will sit perfectly on my Grand Royal slip mat.

We have to wait until hopefully the 28th August for the release, Switch Up and What We Got were previously released and now True Colours has been added to the streaming services. So thats a heavily sampled track, a Mike D Beastie Boys-esque track and a slower chilled hip hop track with what I can describe as a hint of UK 90s indie in the drawn out vocal styling, im sure that was not the plan but we all hear things that evoke from our brains cataloge somewhere. A simple tone can evoke different recollections from one person to another.
