It was a swift ticket grab when the notification popped up that Senser were coming to town, to be honest it’s just as swift if it’s a couple of hours away like the last two times in Bristol. Always a great show put on by a band I’ve been listening to since I first heard them in 1994 and relentlessly wore out the cassette tape in the Kenwood stereo in my car.
Fast forward thirty one years and they still sound as great as ever and with a new album ‘Sonic Dissidence’ which Heitham and Kerstin kindly signed for me at the Merch stand.

If you don’t know them, Senser are a ‘rap rock’ band formed in South West London. They released the stormer of an album ‘Stacked Up’ in 1994, preceded by singles ‘Eject’ and ‘The Key’ in 1993 then ‘Switch’ and the epic ‘Age of Panic’. They didn’t achieve the chart success they deserved but they definitely amassed a loyal following.

Senser were the final band of the night, the headliner, the guitarists and drummer took the stage at 10pm while Heitham and Kerstin stood just off stage for a pause then joined them. What followed was the expected hour long musical assault. All the tracks that any fan would want to hear and any new listener should hear alongside tracks off the new album were on offer, musically great, vocally skilled. Their blend of rap, rock and electronic music, political, defiant, grinding beats and lyrics yet still uplifting at times, a true sonic onslaught. A fantastic night!

Billed as The Psychedelic Circus with Keepers Brew. The night started off with ‘Look Mum No Computer’. I ripped this straight off a webpage ‘Sam James Battle known online as ‘Look Mum No Computer’, is a British YouTuber, electronics enthusiast, musician and composer who posts videos about making pro audio gear and synthesizers, as well as original music tracks. Seriously entertaining, comedic at times and audience participation for riff selection but obviously extremely talented. More dials on his setup than the space shuttle and the sounds he created with that, two keyboards, a drum machine and a Furby, yes a Furby have made me a follower of his channels.

Next up were Keepers Brew, a Psychedelic Dance Music act who brought their own unique style to the night. They certainly got the crowd dancing.

The night was nicely rounded of by a quick chat with Heitham and Kerstin and them signing the new album.
