A full lineup of indie-rock at Heartbreakers on a Saturday night. I wasn’t expecting three acts, the addition of Skäl on the night was a welcome surprise.
They kicked the night off with a wave of guitar that made the entire room turn and take notice and just kept going! This alternative rock band from Winsford, Cheshire were all energy.
Definite alt-rock but with a welcoming indie vibe, very tight, talented, very loud and in your face. They obviously take the music seriously but you can also tell how much they enjoy it. Highly recommend seeing them or at the very least typing Skäl into Spotify. Hopefully they’ll be down this way again in the not too distant future.

Next up were The Florentenes, a rising indie-rock band from Manchester, a quick search says “formed by four teenage friends with a love for anthemic guitar-driven music.”
Great musicians and great songs, guitar driven indie with that Manchester sound, attitude and sunglasses. Another band I’d recommend seeing if you get the chance and worth a streaming listen. These are the bands that make small venues so great to visit on a regular basis, just a great sound.

Final band and the headliner finished off the night in style. The Kairos are a four piece indie-rock band from Liverpool who have been honing their craft and their sound since 2017 across some of Liverpools famous venues which I’m sure are unforgiving. They have supported James and The Reytons, played The Isle of Wight Festival and sold out their own tours across England as well as having headlined the O2 in Liverpool.
This I was my third time seeing The Kairos so I knew what to expect, that’s why I was there but this was the smallest venue I’d seen them in which is no reflection on the band and they filled it with sound.
Opening with ‘Suspend’ which nine to ten seconds in erupts like an announcement shouting “we are here, strap in”. The crowd started bouncing and didn’t stop. This band knows how to work a crowd which is not difficult with those songs in your setlist. Still a new band but with a great following and now a couple of EPs out, the most recent on the 27th of March.
From there own bio : ‘Kairos is an ancient Greek word meaning the right, critical, or opportune moment.’ Well it felt like a critical and opportune moment being there even though it was pre-planned and booked in the pre-sale. Big things happening here.
