No idea what to expect here from the second support of the night. The stage was cleared from the previous support act, a guitar band, a guitarist walked on stage followed by the folding stands and three boards full of from what I could see equalisers? samplers? There was definitely a MacBook front and centre…
Virtuoso – A person highly skilled in music or another artistic pursuit. I’ve been looking forward to this one for a long time. The last time Gaz Coombes played local-ish it clashed with a birthday so I couldn’t attend. This didn’t clash, the venue was perfect, Papillon in Southampton, the stars had aligned. Ralfe band,…
Biffy Clyro are going to play their first three albums in their entirety at special London and Glasgow shows. Biffy Clyro have announced details of a string of shows in London and Glasgow, dubbed ‘A Celebration Of Beginnings’ and featuring performances of their first three albums in full. The special shows will be taking place across…
Ruled by Raptors + Under the Sky + Dead Mans Pistol (I’m using a featured pick of Dead Mans Pistol, just because Stig is a mate) Headed up to The Railway inn last night in Winchester, a great independent music venue. It was a rescheduled night from last year which felt long overdue as the…
Playing to a sold out crowd at The Joiners, a small independent venue with a capacity of 200, with this style of music, means literally shaking the foundations of the buildings either side with every song. A setlist of structural threat! Seriously though the audience literally made the ground move, that sprung floor, well I…
First on of three, with a crowd that obviously knew how good the support acts are and were not going to miss out. I cannot remember when The Joiners was that busy that early. Young Culture thanked those in attendance for turning out early to support but thanks wasn’t needed, this crowd was dialled in…
Put another way, what Vinyl will be in my basket? I always look ahead to see what Vinyl releases are imminent, I don’t have a direct link to any sources specifically telling me what is on the horizon so like everyone else I search sites to find out. There is nothing here you cannot find…
Some vinyl/music collectors have this issue, I am one of them. I did not have this issue growing up as it just worked in my head, especially as I started buying CDs far as they were the next big thing and could be played in the car. They were easier on a shelf to track…
As a follow up to my Was thinking about the early 90s post. I went and found an original vinyl copy of the album and found the Funny How 7″ at the same time, yes I have it on CD boxed away in the loft as no CD player anymore but needed to add this…
Why The Fantastic Four? Ok maybe I’ve misappropriated/stole a phrase but simply put it was a one night, four bands. Four bands I felt lucky to see perform, four bands that could have been the headline act! Four bands now firmly in my Spotify playlists. No disrespect to the Clause who definitely did deserve to…
